Hawaiian Archaeoastronomy at Kukaniloko with Martha Noyes

One of the best observatories on O'ahu eight hundred years ago was the famed Kūkaniloko, or Birthing Stones. The site is now a State Monument not far from Wahiawa on O'ahu. Kaui Lucas, host of Hawai'i is My Main Land, interviews Martha Noyes, who has been studying the site, and its astronomical functions in particular, for the past 12 years.
The skill of pre-Western contact Polynesian astronomers has become famous, through modern use of celestial navigation for voyaging canoes.  Noyes explains some of the knowledge systems at this site for tracking the sun and other heavenly bodies.
