An Update on More at CMore
The CMORE program ended the maximum 10-yr funding (plus one year of no cost) from NSF on July 31, 2017. The major legacy of CMORE is the Simons Collaboration on Ocean Processes and Ecology (SCOPE), a larger and much more 'high risk big potential payoff for knowledge and discovery' project which is in year 4 of a planned 10-yr funding horizon.
Then there is HOT, the Hawaii Ocean Time-series program at Station ALOHA that was created by Dave Karl and Roger Lukas in 1988, and which will be celebrating its 30th year and 300th cruise to Station ALOHAin 2018. Dave has submitted a new 5-year proposal to extend HOT funding from NSF through 2023. We will talk about these, the Big Three: HOT, CMORE and SCOPE; they are all inextricably interconnected and complementary.
